Our Trans-1,2-Dichloroethylene (Trans-DCE) is a next-generation chlorinated solvent that offers a safer and more sustainable alternative to traditional solvents like nPB and other chlorinated or brominated compounds. It has been approved by the U.S. EPA SNAP program for use in aerosol, electronic, metal, and precision cleaning applications, as well as in foam blowing formulations.

While pure Trans-DCE is flammable (flash point 2°C / 36°F), Unistar manufactures nonflammable azeotropic blends that retain consistent composition and performance throughout use.

Unlike solvents such as methylene chloride or trichloroethylene, Trans-DCE is not regulated under 40 CFR Part 63 – Subpart T, offering a safer regulatory profile. It has also been reviewed and approved by the U.S. EPA as an acceptable substitute for ozone-depleting substances.
TDCE has proven effective in reducing vapor pressure and viscosity in HFC/polyol premixes, enhancing foam quality by minimizing frothing and pinholes. In HFC-245fa-blown spray foam formulations, TDCE contributed to improved fire performance — achieving a Class I ASTM E-84 rating.
